Flotilla 41 has qualified instructors for Public Education classes and providing member training. In addition many non-instructor qualified members assist the instructors. Member training is strongly emphasized.

o        Member training is  provided at many flotilla meetings. In addition, some Auxiliary courses are coordinated at the division level. The Coast Guard also makes many of its training courses available to Auxilarists. These include both training schools and on-line classes.

Flotilla 41's Vessel Safety Checks are a very important function of the Coast Guard Auxiliary.

o        Free safety checks help boaters understand potential safety problems with their vessels and provide boaters with insight into keeping their vessels safe for crew and passengers.

Public Affairs activities get the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary safe and intelligent boating messages out to the public. They also help in advertising available boating safety classes, concerns with environmental pollution, hazardous conditions, special events etc.

The Auxiliary provides support directly to the Coast Guard in almost all of its non-law enforcement functions. This support is provided by crewing on vessels, standing radio watches, coordinating Auxiliary resources with Coast Guard activities, and many other activities.

A cornerstone of the Coast Guard Auxiliary is its social activities. These social activities provide a bond between the members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary and the bay and delta area Coast Guard  members. (These activities are  a "fun" thing. Auxiliary members contribute a significant amount of their personal time in support of the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Auxiliary missions. The social activities are a partial reward.)
